Well, we couldn't find any decent photos of us from Revolver, so here's our bassist in a jumping castle.

After coming off an intensely energetic gig with our new best buds “Admiral Ackbar’s Dishonourable Discharge” at Revolver Upstairs, we’re feeling very optimistic about the future of the band.

Not very often King City does mid-week gigs, and due to Jason X running around abroad, we had a Phil-in drummer, so it was quite a unique gig for us. BUT, as this was such fun (and somewhat inspiring) to play with a band whose energy levels approach that of The Seven, we might even do some more (on weeknights, that is… not without Jason, ha).

Alright, we know we just recently released Scarlet Flame, but we couldn’t just stop there, could we? Recently we’ve been jamming out one new song every week. Expect to hear an completely new unreleased song being thrown into our set some time in the near future.

Where and when can you hear these new songs? Well, for our fans that live out here in the western  suburbs, we are planning one or more local gigs (and some all aged gigs for ALL those fans who were screwed over with their date of birth) and we might just bust out a new tune one in the near future, so keep on our Facebook page, and as always, there will be tonnes more gigs in Melbourne for our devoted citizens of King City.

Where can you get some of these fantastic shirts, you ask? Why, at King City gigs, of course! Our next gig is at The Evelyn Hotel supporting Apollo Pathway with the launch of their new single. It looks like it will be a huge night for them and we’re very happy to kick the night off! Hope to see all our long-standing fans (and the new ones too) down there to party with us!

I also feel I should mention that we’ve started writing a fair bit of new material in the last few weeks, which we’re all really excited about. Once again, switching up our musical styles. We might even be dropping in a few new songs on our unsuspecting audiences in our upcoming gigs, but as to when and where, that’s a secret. You’ll have to come to each gig to make sure you don’t miss their debuts!

Oh, I almost forgot to write about it!! We’ve finally launched The King City Seven YouTube account this last week. At the moment, we’ve only uploaded a video provided to us by a fan – “Emotionless” performed at the Scarlet Flame album launch party – but expect a lot of other videos to pop up there soon!

Well, a Saturday night, what am I doing writing this? There are parties to attend!

The devotion to the band from all our friends, old and new, saw us sell out of most of our t-shirt and jumper merch before we had even played a note that night but we are ordering some more for the next gig!

Speaking of our next gig, (nice segue, right?), we’ve just announced a support gig with Starting Sunday for Apollo Pathway‘s single launch at The Evelyn Hotel on the 1st of July!

We’re planning some potential tours and some other unique gigs in the near future so keep up to date with it here and on The King City Seven facebook page!

On the 4th of June, 2011, the album launch at The Espy’s Gershwin Room will reveal the full power of King City. Not only will some ex-members return for a song or two, the band will welcome their new third horn player on stage, bringing the band to eight members! Why eight? Why not? The more the merrier!

Supported by ska heavyweights “The Resignators”, punk-rock band “None The Wiser”, new comer solo act “Demi Louise”, a burlesque performance by “The Bad Ladies”, and we even have “Miss Filly” from Pole Divas who will be showing off her amazing pole dancing skills. Only such a diverse selection of performances could hope to match the musical diversity within The King City Seven. One thing is for certain, you will be entertained on this night regardless of your personal tastes.Unfortunately, this also marks a very sad point for the band as our long-time bassist, Stephen, has decided to call it a day. The remaining members wish to thank Steve for all the effort he’s put in over the years, musically and otherwise, and want to let him know that he’ll be missed immensely. As this will most likely be his last gig with us, ensure you all let him know he’ll be missed.

Never fear, we have a replacement! You may have noticed, if you came along to The King City Seven gig at The Village Green Hotel (with Redcoats), that we had a bassist fill in for Steve (who was on a business trip that weekend). We want to officially welcome to the band Daniel Bartlett! Daniel has put in a tonne of effort so far to learn the bass parts, and advertise the album launch to fans and we are confident he will be a great addition to the band.

So much change, but the vision of The Seven as a whole is still very focused. A tonne of effort has gone into planning the whole “Scarlet Flame” album launch party by the band, what else do we have planned for that night? Go to the Gigs page to find out more info now!

As part of our album launch for the long anticipated full-length album, “Scarlet Flame” from The King City Seven, we are proud to launch our completely new website. The site will be the centre-point of all online activity for The Seven and as such, there will be many things happening on the site in the near future!

But still, the night is too quiet in King City; raise up Mavis to the sky and let’s get ready to party in ye olde King City.
