Biography
Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, The King City Seven are an
eight piece outfit that have been playing a major part in the city’s music scene for the past five years.
The style of the band is hard to pigeon hole; if you were to ask them, they would say “rock, with horns”. Catchy and powerful chorus-driven songs have brought them a wide ranging fan base that has seen them gain success at venues such as the Esplanade Hotel, The Corner Hotel, Federation Square and many Underage festivals.
The King City Seven have two independent releases; in 2006, the band released their widely sold and acclaimed EP “Breathing Down Your Neck”. The EP was a huge success and has subsequently sold out.
The band’s second release was their full, concept album entitled “Scarlet Flame.” Scarlet Flame is an eclectic mix of rock, hard rock and reggae culminating in the albums’ namesake epic song.
Early reviews are extremely positive and the band has supreme confidence in its release. Scarlet Flame was launched with a massive party at The Espy on June 4th, 2011.
The King City Seven started life out as punk rock band Chub57. They had successes in FREEZA events winning the Bacchus Marsh battle of the bands. After a lineup change and new ideas about direction of the band, horns were added to the line up and thus The King City Seven were born.
Over the following years the band experienced many more battle wins at The Sandringham Hotel, Beaumaris Hotel and the Esplanade Hotel battles. In 2008, The King City Seven competed in the “Battle of the Sounds” competition at Crown Casino. Billed as the biggest battle in Australia with 375 bands competing, and after “battling” for a number of weeks, King City was victorious and blew the competition away!
The King City Seven are dedicated to the notion of live “entertainment” and every show is a unique, exciting experience. Every live gig is a
memorable one for each and every audience member. Having previously headlined tours of Sydney and Canberra, The King City Seven are picking up the pace with more touring, more gigs and a whole lot more fun!
The second half of 2010 saw a massive lineup change, and with new energies being directed into the heart of King City, they are as focused as ever. Continuing to recruit new personnel into their army of fans from across the globe, nothing will stop The King City Seven.
